The founding president of the Seraphine Outreach Youth and Women initiative, Dr Nwosu Seraphine Chioma, and members of her team were at the DEPOWA Secretariat on Thursday 13th June 2024.
In her remarks, she expressed that the non-governmental organisation(NGO) was borne out of the need to cater to the welfare of the girl child from her experience as a teacher in the military school. The girl child in the barracks and its environment face a lot of challenges, and there is the need to encourage them to be empowered.
Dr Nwosu further added that her NGO was the Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) for Armed forces schools and the aim of the visit was to solicit for the collaboration of the President DEPOWA to support the forth coming International Day of the Girl Child being organised by her NGO.
The President DEPOWA, in her response, applauded Dr Nwosu for her contribution towards uplifting the girl child. She noted that the Armed forces is a structured entity and will continue to collaborate with well-meaning organisations in ensuring the safety and welfare of Nigerians.
The meeting came to a close with the signing of the visitors’ book and group photographs.
