The President, Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA); Mrs Oghogho G. Musa on Monday 22nd July 2024 marked her birthday starting with a thanksgiving service at All Saints Military Protestant Church, Mogadishu Cantonment and had a special community outreach event at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp, Durumi.
Mrs Oghogho G Musa, after her Thanksgiving service, made a stopover at the Defence Headquarters Medical Centre in Mogadishu Cantonment, where she visited the patients on admission and gifted them consumables and cash donations.
At the Durumi IDP camp, the medical team organised by the President DEPOWA were on site to check the IDP community and dispense medicines to them amidst other activities.
Mrs Jane Ekor Undiandeye, the Coordinator, Defence Intelligence Agency Officers’ Wives Association, gave the welcome remarks. Thereafter, a playlet was done by members of the IDP camp. Dr Juliette Ango, the Chairperson
of DEPOWA Health and fitness committee delivered health talk and showed the IDPs how to make Oral Rehydration Therapy Water.
The Celebrant, Mrs Oghogho Gwabin Musa, in her words, stated, “We gather here not only to mark my special day but also to demonstrate our commitment to serving and supporting those in need.
We are here today to reach out to you and to contribute some consumables to assist you. Before my arrival this morning, consultation and treatment of common ailments has been ongoing which include checking of blood pressure, glucometer test for blood sugar, Antenatal services and Administration of haematinics to pregnant women and deworming of adults and children, dispensing of drugs to sick ones amongst us and donating other medications to the camp clinic such as antibiotics and malarials medications ,IV fluids, Gloves and so many items before us. Each pregnant woman here will get a delivery pack to ensure a safe and clean delivery of your young ones. In addition to the Medical outreach, I cannot ignore the plight of our Displaced Persons with regards to their nutritional needs so I am also donating 90 bags of rice, 10 bags of Garri, 10 bags of Guinea corn, 10 bags of Corn. 10 bags of oranges, 10 bags of gardening eggs, and 300 mosquito nets. I am truly honoured and grateful to God Almighty for his mercies and protection over my life.”
She added that ” I am truly grateful for all the support. Therefore, my special gratitude goes to the mother of the nation, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Founder Renewed Hope Initiative, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON for her motherly inspiration and continuous guidance. I would like to also deeply appreciate and thank the Chief of Defence Staff, my loving husband, my king, my crown, General Christopher Gwabin Musa OFR who has always been my pillar of strength and the driving force in challenging moments and successes.”
She further appreciated and thanked all the individuals involved in making the event a success.
Highlight of the event included fun activities organised for the children and women of the IDP camp Durumi, medical check up, consultations and treatments, cutting of the cake, donation of delivery packs to the pregnant women at the event, donation of food items to the camp and presentation of gifts to the President DEPOWA.
