The President DEPOWA Mrs Oghogho Gwabin Musa was a special guest at the flag off of the Breast-Feeding week on 1 August 2024. The event had over 300 breastfeeding mothers drawn from the 6 area councils of the Federal Capital Territory. In her remark, the President DEPOWA stated that the theme of 2024 breastfeeding week ” Closing the Gap,Breastfeeding Support for All” highlights the importance of promoting a culture of inclusivity, diversity and support for breastfeeding mothers worldwide.

Mrs Oghogho Musa further mentioned that DEPOWA remains dedicated to supporting breastfeeding mothers through Defence Medical facilities and partners nationwide. In attendance were Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare,Miss Daju Kachollom, Country Representative UNICEF Christian Mundate, Director Nutrition Department Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare Mrs Ladidi Bako-Aiyebgusi among others.

Highlights of the event were the world record attempt of Breast-Feeding by mothers for a minute and group photographs.
