 111 BENEFICIARIES GRADUATE FROM DEPOWA SKILLS AQUISITION CENTRE

The event took place on 3rd December 2024 at the DEPOWA Secretariat Foyer. The trainees were nominated by the various associations under DEPOWA, were taught on various skills such as Culinary services, Fashion Designing, Hair Making/Gele Tying, Bag Making, Computer Appreciation, Barbing and Production of Household items.

The DEPOWA President, Mrs Oghogho Musa, in her remarks, expressed her delight in the transformation of the graduants. She urged them to make good use of the opportunity to better their lives and equally better the lives of others with the new skills acquired.
In her words, “your achievements today goes beyond personal success as it lays the foundation for a brighter future for your families and a stronger, more resilient society.”

She further charged the graduants to be worthy ambassadors of DEPOWA’s vision through the use of the starter packs for business growth and expansion.

Mrs Oghogho G.Musa thanked the Special Guest of Honour (SGOH) and Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa OFR for his support, encouragement and inspiration. In addition, thanked the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the founder of Renewed Hope Initiative her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON for her motherly inspiration and continuous guidance always.

The CDS, General Christopher Gwabin Musa OFR, congratulated the graduating students and appreciated the efforts of the executives and staff of DEPOWA under the leadership of the DEPOWA President.

He extolled Mrs Oghogho G.Musa for equipping individuals with the right skills set to lead more fulfilling and independent lives.  He called on the graduants to note that the skills acquired are more than just technical expertise. They are the foundation upon which they can build careers, start businesses, and transform their dreams into reality.

The CDS enjoined the graduants to embrace the journey ahead with courage, passion, and resilience noting that the training they acquired at DEPOWA Skills Acquisition Centre also equips them with the values of discipline, adaptability, and innovation. He further stated that the world values excellence, creativity, and hard work, therefore applying the skills to use, they are contributing to the socio-economic development of our nation, fostering progress and creating a ripple effect of positive change.

Highlights of the event were the display by art and cultural troupe, batch 17 course highlights, documentary, presentation of starter packs to beneficiaries, tour of DSAC items, presentation of souvenirs and group photographs.
