The President of the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs. Oghogho Gwabin Musa, accompanied by members of the association on a working visit to the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, on 1 September 2025. The visit provided an opportunity to acquaint the Chief of Naval Staff with DEPOWA’s “Thank You to Our Troops” national campaign.

Mrs. Musa stated that the 12-month initiative seeks to honour the courage, sacrifices, and patriotism of the Armed Forces and Police as the campaign aims to rally Nigerians to show genuine appreciation to security personnel.

The President DEPOWA also informed the Chief of Naval Staff of the DEPOWA Future Leaders Academy, Abuja. An institution dedicated to the children and families of fallen servicemen and women, is envisioned as a National Reference College.

Responding, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla appreciated the President DEPOWA for initiating the “Thank you to our troops campaign” while pledging his support to the campaign. He also commended the DEPOWA National Reference College as its a means to reducing crime in the nation and assisting the children of fallen heroes with scholarship. He further appreciated the President DEPOWA for the forthcoming DEPOWA sports competition which is also a means of developing the youth and pledged to support the DEPOWA Reference College with the construction of a block in the school.
In closing he encouraged the spirit of cooperation in DEPOWA and its sister associations.

Highlights of the visit included the presentation of a commemorative plaque, sourvenirs, and group photographs.
