 DEPOWA HOST INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE BOY CHILD ON 15 MAY 2025 AT THE ARMED FORCES OFFICERS’ MESS ASOKORO ABUJA.

The Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) commemorated the International Day of the Boy Child . The yearly event is aimed at promoting the well-being, education, and emotional growth of boys, fostering a supportive environment for them to thrive. The theme for the event ” Celebrating Boys: Empowering and Nurturing Our Future Leaders” featured engaging activities, including mentorship sessions.

Delivering her opening remarks, the DEPOWA President, Mrs Oghogho Gwabin Musa, welcomed all the guests and further stated that nurturing boys is crucial for their emotional growth and well-being, Teaching them to be strong and emotionally intelligent helps raise whole and well-adjusted future leaders.

Mrs Oghogho Musa appreciated the First Lady of Nigeria and founder Renewed Hope Initiative, Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON for her unwavering guidance and exemplary leadership. She further appreciated the Special Guest of Honour, General Christopher Gwabin Musa OFR, the Service Chiefs, the Inspector General of Police, and the Comptroller General of Customs for their contributions in keeping the nation safe.

The key note address was delivered by the Special Guest of Honour the Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Gwabin Musa OFR who was represented by Rear Admiral Olusanya Bankole. Representatives of service chiefs and Inspector General of Police also spoke on the perspective of their various services. Other luminaries that witnessed the event were Dr Chef Mekwuye Eric, CEO of Hospitality Business School, Mr Fletcher Oluwatobi Benjamin, CEO Ofadaboy, HRH Chief Paulinus Okon, National President, Association of Professional Chefs Nigeria, Mr Ademola Akande, Chairman AKAAD Group,Mr Mfon Jeremiah Erik, Coach Ebuka Obida Ede and Dr Mohammed Audu of Psychotherapeutic and Counselling Research Institute Abuja.

Notably present at the event were the representatives of the President NAOWA and NOWA, the President NAFOWA, Architect Dr. Mrs. Rakiya Abubakar, Representatives of the Presidents of POWA and COWA, Coordinators of DEPOWA, Students from participating Schools, members of DEPOWA NAOWA, NOWA, NAFOWA, POWA, COWA.

Highlights of the event were mentorship talks, talent presentations by participating schools, presentations of plaques to guest speakers, and group photographs.
