
The Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA), in collaboration with the Defence Headquarters commemorated the World Humanitarian Day on 19 August 2025, at Kpaduma Village, Asokoro, Abuja.
DEPOWA in collaboration with the Defence Headquarters commemorated the International World Humanitarian Day which is a day set aside annually to remind us of the power of compassion, unity, and selfless service to humanity as well as honour the brave men and women who risk their lives to alleviate suffering, protect the vulnerable, and uphold human dignity.
The Chief of Defence Civil Military Relations, Rear Admiral OA Bankole, commended the resilience and hospitality of the Kpaduma community, highlighting their remarkable ability to thrive in the face of adversity. He also saluted humanitarian actors worldwide for their dedication to easing the burdens of others, often in the most difficult and trying circumstances.
The President DEPOWA ably represented by Dr Mrs Modupe Ogunsino noted that DEPOWA remains committed to humanitarian efforts through healthcare initiatives, educational support, and empowerment programs to bring relief to those in need. She further thanked humanitarian workers, volunteers, and security personnel as their efforts do not go unnoticed.
The outreach featured free medical consultations, provision of medications for various health conditions, as well as the distribution of essential relief items such as bags of rice, garri, beans, purity packs, biscuits among other items.
