The President Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association Mrs Oghogho G. Musa was a distinguished guest at the NAFOWA Skills Acquisition Graduation ceremony vocational training programme. The event was held at the NAF Valley base, Asokoro, Abuja, on 9 July 2024.
President NAFOWA Arc.(Dr) Rakiya Abubakar, during her remarks, stated that the skills acquired by the graduands include food processing, branding, packaging and pastry, she stated that NAFOWA decided to embark on a more relatable and advanced vocation to make the beneficiaries keep up with the trend of development with a view to leverage and compete favourably with entrepreneurs in the contemporary global space.
She further stated that in line with the First Lady’s vision of self-sustenance and healthy living through agriculture and urban farming, the 152 graduands were also trained on agriculture and urban farming.
Architect (Dr) Rakiya Abubakar added that the graduation ceremony was also to commemorate her one year in office, urging the beneficiaries to keep improving on the knowledge gotten and make their families and the nation proud. Afterwards, she announced the unveiling of the special edition
of the Mothers’ Voice magazine.
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, was the Guest of Honour and ably represented by the Chief of Aircraft Engineering, AVM Pius Oahimire.
He congratulated the beneficiaries of the skills acquisition program for their dedication, hard work, and perseverance.
In his remarks, he noted that the skills acquired were not just a means to livelihood but a tool that would empower them to support their families and contribute toward the socio-economic development of the nation.
He appreciated the NAFOWA President for her commitment to adding value to the lives of the spouses, widows, and wards of NAF personnel and also commended the association on the unveiling of the 2024 special edition of the Mother’s Voice magazine.
CAS announced the donation of two brand new vehicles comprising a 29-seater coastal bus and 18 seater Toyota hiace bus to ease mobility challenges and enable NAFOWA to perform more.
In attendance was the representative of the NAOWA President, Vice President NOWA, representative of President POWA, and members of DEPOWA, NAOWA, NOWA, NAFOWA, and POWA.
Highlights of the occasion were the unveiling of the 2024 edition of the Mother’s Voice magazine, group photographs, and exhibition of items by the graduands.
