The President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs Oghogho G.Musa was among several distinguished personalities that attended the Nigerian Airforce Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA) Cancer Awareness Walk/Talk campaign for 2024.
The event, themed “Educate, Empower, Eradicate A Future Without Cancer,” took place at the NAF Base Sports Complex, NAF Valley Estate, Asokoro, Abuja on Saturday, 12 October 2024, and featured an awareness walk and health talk by a medical professional.
In the remarks of the President,NAFOWA Architect Mrs Rakiya Abubakar, “This cancer awareness walk and talk campaign speaks not only to the urgency of raising awareness but also to the immense power we hold as a community to drive change, support those affected, and ultimately work towards a future where cancer is no longer a threat to our families, our nation, or the world.”
In attendance at the event were the Special Guest of Honour, Dr Muhammed Ali Pate the Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare, represented by Dr Emmanuel Odu, Senior Special Adviser to the Minister,Director General National Institute for Cancer patients Research and Treatment Dr Usman Malami Aliyu represented by Dr Usman Waziri, the DEPOWA President, Mrs Oghogho Musa represented Pharmacist Fatima Salihu, representatives of the wives of service chiefs and members of DEPOWA, NAOWA, NOWA and NAFOWA, amongst others.
Highlights of the event were the awareness walk, health talk, goodwill messages, and photo session.
