The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of Voice of Nigeria(VON), Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace and staff of VON were the DEPOWA Secretariat on Thursday, 20th June 2024 to felicitate with the President DEPOWA on her achievements since her assumption of office.
He appreciated the efforts of the members of the Armed Forces and other security Agencies which is a reflection of their wives support at the home front, he further applauded the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, for his courage in interfacing with the media periodically.
He stated that VON is a leading independent press organisation that broadcast daily in eight languages, four Nigerian languages (Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba and Fulfide) and 4 foreign languages (English, French, Arabic and Swahili). He added that since his assumption to office, they are in the process of expanding their broadcast to include Chinese and Portuguese to ensure that the positive stories about Nigeria and Nigerians, Africa and Africans are published correctly.
Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace further added that the good works DEPOWA and the Armed forces are doing are not being publicised enough. In line with the mandate of VON of building a positive narrative of Nigeria and Nigerians.
He applauded the activities of the President DEPOWA towards women and youth empowerment and stated that the purpose of his visit is to offer a platform to tell the DEPOWA story in a concise and vibrant manner where activities of DEPOWA will be publicised weekly through VON. He added that VON has offices nationwide and they are willing to cover DEPOWA activities in any state of the country.
Lastly, he appreciated the President DEPOWA in aligning with the Renewed Hope Initiative of the First Lady of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON.
In her response, President DEPOWA expressed her gratitude to the Director General VON for his proposal of publicizing DEPOWA activities. She commended him for being a team player by including his staff on different levels, which include Armed Forces wives working in VON on the courtesy visit. She added that she looks forward to DEPOWA collaborating with VON.
