The President DEPOWA Mrs Oghogho Gwabin Musa on the 6 October 2024 was a guest at the closing ceremony of the Chief of Defence Staff Basketball tournament at the Mo Arena Abuja. The 16 teams that featured in the 5 days tournament were drawn from the 6 Geo Political Zones and the FCT.

The finals were played between Royal hoopers from Rivers representing the South South, while Gboko City Chiefs from Benue represented the Middle Belt, and at the end of the finals, Royal Hoppers won 72-59.

The Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Gwabin Musa OFR during his remark stated that the essence of the competition was to discover more talents that will represent the country and for the youths to stay off negative vices being a non-kinetic approach towards security. He further appreciated the local organising committee and all the teams that participated. At the end of the tournament, Sourvenirs were presented to officials ,local organising committee, third place position Suleija Hornets,2nd position City Chiefs and the winners Royal Hoppers.
