The President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs. Oghogho Gwabin Musa, alongside members of her association, on Friday, 17 October 2025, attended the combined commissioning ceremony of the newly constructed Niger Barracks Extension and the Link Road connecting Mambilla Barracks to the State House Clinic, Abuja.
The event, graced by top military officers, government functionaries, and other distinguished guests, marked a major infrastructural milestone in the Nigerian Armed Forces’ ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare and operational environment of its personnel.
Delivering his remarks, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, OFR, expressed deep appreciation to the Special Guest of Honour, the Right Honourable Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, for honouring the invitation despite his demanding national schedule. He commended the Speaker for his unwavering support to the Armed Forces, noting that his leadership of the House has significantly contributed to easing the work of the military through legislative backing and encouragement.
General Musa stated that the newly constructed accommodation and Link Road are not mere infrastructural projects but essential facilities designed to promote efficiency, safety, and comfort for officers and their families. He further noted that the new accommodation block, which will serve policymakers from the Defence Headquarters, provides a serene and conducive environment for strategic thinking and policy formulation.
The project, he emphasized, aligns with his leadership philosophy of building a professional Nigerian Armed Forces that is people-centric, collaborative, and capable of fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities in a joint and cooperative environment.
Highlights of the event included the official commissioning of the Niger Barracks Extension and Link Road, as well as a tour and group photographs.
