As part of activities marking the 60th anniversary of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria. The Coordinator of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria Officers’ Wives Association (DICONOWA) held a Maiden Women Empowerment Conference 2024 themed Empowering Women for Enhanced Support to the Home Front.
The workshop was held on Tuesday, 13th August 2024, at Division Officers’ Mess, Kaduna state.
The Coordinator DICONOWA, Dr. Mrs Uduakobong Edet; in her opening remarks welcomed the Special Guest of Honour (SGOH) Mrs Oghogho Gwabin Musa and the participants to the workshop organized to mark the Diamond Jubilee of one of the critical national infrastructure, Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON). She noted that as DICON marks its 60th anniversary to promote self reliance and self sufficiency in Defence production and industrialization in Nigeria, participants are encouraged to gain knowledge from the presentations of the resource persons to seek means to to assist the country and support their spouse as commanders of the home front to create a stable home from the knowledge acquired.
Dr. Aniema Udo delivered a presentation on General Mental Health Awareness and Managing Mental Disorder while Dr. Natalie Aisha Sam-Bemu delivered a presentation on the Use of Technology Platforms for Social Media Strategic Marketing.
In her remarks, the SGOH; Mrs Oghogho G.Musa, congratulated the Coordinator DICONOWA for organizing the workshop which aligns with the vision of DEPOWA which is to seeing “Women and Girls Become Productive and Contributors to Family and Society Driven by Deep Sense of Values and Hard-Working Spirit”.
She further emphasized that empowering women is a strategic investment in their collective future as they become agent of change in their families, communities, and societies, she further encouraged participants to take advantage of the knowledge acquired.
Mrs Oghogho G.Musa thanked the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Founder Renewed Hope Initiative, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu (CON) for her motherly inspiration and continuous guidance; She appreciated the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Officer of the Federal Republic) for all his support in enhancing DEPOWA activities nationwide. She thanked the Director General, Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria. Major General Aniedi Effiong Edet for always supporting the Coordinator DICONOWA, Dr Uduakobong Edet, and her members in actualizing activities that will promote the wellbeing of officers’ Wives and the general community.
Present at the workshop were the Coordinator, Defence Intelligence Agency Officers Wives Association (DIAOWA), Mrs Jane Ekor Undiandeye; the Coordinator, Defence Space Administration Officers Wives Association (DSAOWA) Mrs Murjanatu Shinkarfi; representatives of the Coordinators of NDAOWA and MPBOWA; Chairperson 1 Division, Mrs Ada Saraso; Members of DEPOWA, DIAOWA, NDAOWA, DSAOWA, DICONOWA. Members of 42 regular course Jewels, staff of DICON resources persons, and invited guests.
Highlights of the event were the presentation by resource persons, interactive sessions, presentation of souvenirs, and group photographs.
