
The President of the Defence and Police Officers Wives’ Association (DEPOWA), Mrs. Oghogho Gwabin commemorated the International Widows’ Day on 21 June 2025 at Ihejirika Military Auditorium in Jaji. Mrs Oghogho hosted the Military Widows Association (MIWA). Kaduna chapter recognizing their sacrifices and contributions.
Delivery her opening address, Mrs. Musa appreciated all the guests and resilient widows who, despite the profound challenges of burying a spouse and raising a family alone, persevere with unwavering dignity. She stated that “A widow is not merely a woman who has lost her husband; she is a woman who navigates life’s complexities with unyielding determination, her courage indelibly stitched into the fabric of her being.”
Addressing the MIWA members, Mrs. Musa assured them that DEPOWA recognizes their sacrifices and dedications and reaffirmed the organization’s unwavering commitment to providing meaningful support from symbolic gestures to tangible, impactful actions, including skill training and educational support for their children, designed to empower them and effect lasting positive change in their lives.”
Some dignitaries at the event were the National President NAFOWA Arch. Dr Rakiya Abubakar, President MIWA, resources persons among others.
Highlight of the event were words of encouragement, interactive sessions, presentations of souvenirs, and group photographs.
