 PRESIDENT DEPOWA PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO DELTA STATE GOVERNOR

The President of the Defense and Police Officers Wives Association, Mrs Oghogho Gwabin Musa and members of her entourage on Wednesday 17th September 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Delta state, His Excellency, Right Honourable, Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori.

During the visit, Mrs Oghogho Gwabin Musa thanked the Governor for the warm reception and noted that her visit to Delta state was to host a training seminar for widows of fallen heroes drawn from Anambra, Enugu, Delta and Edo states. She informed the Governor Delta state of the recent initiative of DEPOWA, the “Thank You to Our Troops” Campaign which is a 12 months program to appreciate, celebrate and support the gallant men and women of the Armed Forces and Police as well as reminding Nigerians that the sacrifices of those who put their lives on the line daily deserve recognition and gratitude.

Mrs Oghogho Musa further notified the Governor of Delta state on the DEPOWA Future Leaders Academy, Abuja which is a living legacy to the children and families of fallen heroes, she stated that everyt qualified child of the fallen heroes will receive automatic full scholarship at the the National Reference College.

Mrs Musa commended the Governor Delta state for the historic impactful initiatives in supporting women and youths in Delta state.

The Governor of Delta state in his response welcomed the President DEPOWA home noting that he had know the Chief of Defence Staff before they got married. He appreciated the President DEPOWA for choosing Asaba, Delta state as the venue for the empowerment seminar that has brought together widows from Delta, Anambra, Edo and Enugu. Her commitment to lifting the families of our fallen heroes is deeply commendable as Delta state is also empowering widows. He noted that last month Delta state empowered 10,000 widows as they will be paid salaries every month as well as introducing the Delta state health insurance scheme which the widows will be part of. He assured the DEPOWA President of his full support to her empowerment seminar.

Highlights of the visit includes the presentation of plaques and group photographs.
