 PRESIDENT OF DEFENCE AND POLICE OFFICERS’ WIVES ASSOCIATION CHARGES WOMEN TO DEVELOP A BALANCED LIFE

The President Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs Oghogho Musa, has charged women to develop a balanced life. This charge was made during a 2-day workshop organized for members of DEPOWA, NAOWA,NOWA,NAFOWA and POWA recently. The workshop which held at the DEPOWA Secretariat was tagged “Personal Visioning and Planning”.

Mrs Oghogho Musa while addressing over 100 participants stated that the role of women in the society is tasking and multifaceted thus this empowering workshop is centered on creating balance and fulfillment in the lives of women. She added that, “we are gathered with a common purpose—to navigate the intricate paths of our lives, to chart out actions that will lead us towards the realization of our visions and aspirations”.

She affirmed that “balancing the demands of work, family, and personal growth can often feel like an overwhelming task as we sometimes find ourselves entangled in a web of responsibilities, where the pursuit of our own dreams may seem unachievable. However, it is important to bear in mind that within each of us lies so much untapped potentials”. She further affirmed that “the challenge for some is not in the lack of ambition or clarity of purpose, but in articulating and actualizing those dreams. It is against this backdrop that this workshop was organized to address the issue of lack of visioning”.

Reiterating the essence for the workshop to the Press, the President stated that the workshop was to encourage women to have a balanced life in career, business, family life, spiritual life, personal development, health and fitness as well as travel and leisure.

During the workshop, the facilitator, Celina Onogwu of Celina Unogwu Visionary Academy (CUVA), exposed participants to the concept of personal visioning, which encompasses having a vivid mental image of the future a person wants to create and taking deliberate actions towards achieving it. Additionally, participants were told that having a strategic plan after visioning is the only way through which visions or dreams can be actualized. The importance of visioning, clarifying your purpose, self-Discovery, crafting your personal vision statement and strategic planning for personal fulfilment were discussed.Highpoints of the event was presentation of certificates, souvenirs and group photographs.
